Ascribe To The Lord!

Ascribe to the LORD, sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; Worship the LORD in holy attire. Psalm 29:1-2 A Psalm of David.

What do you do to proclaim who God is?

The word ascribe here is the Hebrew word yâhab. It’s a verb or an action word, and it means to give. Sometimes we see ascribe, and we think of the word describe. Although that is close, this isn’t just describing what you wore yesterday; this is giving God worthy praise that he deserves. This is proclaiming with all you have God’s power, glory, and strength.

How do we even begin to do this? Well, remember, David wasn’t a theologian; he was a shepherd warrior God made king because he was a man after God’s own heart, according to God. David also was a musician and worship leader.

It appears David’s answer to my question is just to do it! Because that’s what he says. “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name.” There’s no taking a class and getting a degree to be able to do this. There’s not a seminar David suggests. YouTube doesn’t have a video to teach you how to do this…(well, not that I know of); David just says to do it! He deserves it!

So what do you do to proclaim who God is? My encouragement is to do what David did and just do it! Proclaim God’s goodness to your co-workers. Proclaim God’s provision to your family. Proclaim God’s power to your neighbors. Ascribe to the Lord the Glory due His name!

Proclaiming God’s glory with you,
Pastor Mike
