Self-Deception And Our Amazing Forgiving Savior

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:8-10

Obedience Is Always Better Than Worship

In 1 Samuel 15, God instructed King Saul to attack the Amalekites and completely destroy everything that belonged to them – men, women, children, and ALL livestock. (You can read about God’s reason for this in Exodus 17:8-16, Deuteronomy 25:17-19, and 1 Samuel 15:1-2) So, in response to God’s instruction, King Saul mobilized his army and attacked the Amalekites. However, verse 9 tells us that King Saul and his men spared Agag’s life, the Amalekite king, and kept the best of the livestock, destroying only what was worthless or of poor quality. When the prophet Samuel confronts Saul, Saul tells Samuel that the livestock is going to be sacrificed to the Lord. We find Samuel’s response in verse 22.

The Danger Of Heresy

“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” Colossians 2:8, NASB95

The Gospel No-Additives

Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:24-26
