Heavenly Minded, Earthly Good

“Some people are so heavenly minded that they are no earthly good.” Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

Have you ever heard the above statement before? Many times, when we hear this quote, people are complaining that Christ-followers are not concerned about the condition of mankind or planet earth. Our heads are in the clouds, and we would prefer to be in another place. So, therefore, Christ-followers don’t contribute to the betterment of life.

The Insanity Of Rejecting Jesus

“Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!” So they cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.”” (John 19:14–15, NASB95)

Find Strength In God

But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:6 (NASB)
In 1 Samuel 30, we find David and his 600 men returning to Ziklag, where they lived with their families in Philistine territory. David and his men had been traveling for three days. When they arrived, they found their homes burned to the ground and their families nowhere to be found. While the men had been away, the Amalekites attacked Ziklag and burned it, taking captive the women and all in the city, both young and old.

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NASB)

Yes Lord

“And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” (Matthew 28:18, NASB95)

The modern world detests authority but worships relevance.
Our Christian conviction is that the Bible has both authority
and relevance, and that the secret of both is Jesus Christ
John Stott
