Blood and Water

Is Jesus really God in the flesh? Did Jesus really die on the cross?

These are questions that many people ask concerning the person and redemptive work of Jesus. The apostle John was surrounded by skeptics. The Gnostics didn’t believe Jesus had a real human body and actually died on the cross.

Our Great God

Happy New Year!

I want to encourage you for the next few moments to set aside your plans for this afternoon. Don’t worry about what you have to do this week. Don’t worry about life’s situation that may loom large in your mind. Set all of these things aside and let these words grab your attention.

Psalm 95:3-5

For the Lord is a great God

And a great King above all gods,

In whose hand are the depths of the earth,

The peaks of the mountains are His also.

The sea is His, for it was He who made it,

And His hands formed the dry land.

The purpose of us coming together is to gaze into the nature and character of God.

He is the great God.

He is the great King.

He made us.

He loves us.

He desires to reveal His nature and character to us.

Let worship song lyrics reveal His character to you. Let the elements of communion remind you who He is and what He has done for you. Let His word transform you. Allow the marvelous person of God to drive you to awe.

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Timothy 1:17)

New Hope, New Life, New Mercy, New Love!

Happy almost New Year! 2020 is coming whether we’re ready for it or not. The New Year always brings thoughts of new hopes and dreams that we have for our lives. We make resolutions, we buy gym memberships, we plan dream vacations, and we say this is going to be the year…

This week I hope to encourage you to see what you already have in Christ! To be encouraged to live in the new life that we have in Christ! If you have known the Lord for a long time or are a new believer, these are truths that are a reality for all of us in Christ. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 1:3 that we have a New Hope. Hope in Christ is something we never had before we met him. 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us we have a New Life in Christ. Every time I read that verse I am reminded of the New Life I have in Christ. My favorite phrase there is “old things have passed away, behold all things have become new.”

We all have New Mercy from God every day to carry us through. Lamentations 3 has been telling us that for a long time. Lastly, we’ll look at the New Love of God that we have because of Christ. A love that lasts forever, a love that defies our natural tendencies, a love that is New!

My hope is that in looking at what the Bible says about what we already have, we can face the New Year in a New Way. We can head into 2020 with a new sense of purpose as a Christian and realize and live what we already have in Christ! My prayer for all of us is that we have a Christ-filled New Year!

In Christ’s Amazing Love,

Pastor Mike Towler

Living Hope

Author and speaker Hal Lindsey once said, “Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air…but only for one second without hope.”

The Blessed Hope

“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,” (Titus 2:11–13, NASB95)
