Gratitude: Thankfully There’s One

Good ole Webster’s Dictionary defines it as “an emotion of the heart, excited by a favor or benefit received; a sentiment of kindness or goodwill towards a benefactor; thankfulness.”

Jesus the Provider

When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour the disciple took her into his own household.” (John 19:26–27)

Before He released His spirit in death, Jesus had one last bit of business: take care of His mother.

The Ministry of the Suffering Servant

“But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5, NASB95)

King of the Jews

Regardless of public opinion, Jesus is the King of Heaven and Earth.

Dr. Howard Hendrick – theologian, pastor and professor – once said, “There was no identity crisis in the life of Jesus Christ. He knew who He was. He knew where He had come from and why He was here. And He knew where He was going.”

Proven Faith

“Our vision is so limited we can hardly imagine a love that does not show itself in protection from suffering…. The love of God did not protect His own Son…. He will not necessarily protect us – not from anything it takes to make us like His Son. A lot of hammering and chiseling and purifying by fire will have to go into the process.” ― Elisabeth Elliot
