Do You Believe?

Jesus had come and healed a man that had been blind since birth, and as a result of the miracle and the man’s reluctance in discrediting Jesus, the man was excommunicated from the synagogue. Even his own parents distanced themselves from him for fear of the Jews.
“Jesus heard that they had put him out, and finding him, He said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” (John 9:35, NASB95)
Jesus had come and healed a man that had been blind since birth, and as a result of the miracle and the man’s reluctance in discrediting Jesus, the man was excommunicated from the synagogue. Even his own parents distanced themselves from him for fear of the Jews.
Excommunication meant that you were cut off from all social gatherings, worship and even family. It was against the law for anyone to fellowship with someone who was excommunicated, even to the extent that you couldn’t even mourn their death. All this man did was to receive the gift of sight and refused to deny the miracle ultimately costing him everything. Keep in mind the healed man had never seen Jesus but only heard him, and when the man gained his sight Jesus was no where to be found.
Here is the beauty of the account, when Jesus heard that the man had been put out of the community, He came looking for the man in order to bring salvation to the man.  Jesus’ mission was to come in order to seek and to save the least, the lost and the marginalized (Luke 19:10).  Jesus didn’t leave this man guessing as to who healed him, but revealed Himself to the man so that he might be saved. This is true for you and I. Jesus reveals Himself to us in many ways, both in the written Word and the Holy Spirit. Having revealed Himself to you, He wants to know if you will believe in Him.
How has Jesus revealed Himself to you? Has Jesus touched your life in order for you to become aware of Him? If you have experienced the power of Jesus in your life, have you believed in Him as Lord and do you worship Him?
May the Lord Jesus Christ open your eyes so that you may see!
