“Hanging” With Daddy God

As I was getting ready for work many years ago, my youngest son Luke, who was six years old at the time, came running up to me all excited, “Daddy, Daddy, can I go to work with you?” As much as I wanted to “hang” with my son, I gently explained to him why he would be unable to go to work with me.
Not hearing the answer that he desired, Luke hung his head in disappointment and ran out the back door. I finished getting ready for work and realized I hadn’t seen my son come back through the house. I headed out the back door, into the backyard, and down the side of the house. No Luke.

As I began to call his name, I entered the garage to see Luke in the car with his seatbelt on, a big smile on his face, waiting patiently to spend time with daddy. My heart was filled with joy, and my mouth with laughter. After calling my wife to enjoy the warm scene, I realized that Luke needed and desired to spend time with me. So, he came to work with me regardless of any inconveniences. Psalm 100 tells us how to “hang “ with Daddy God.
Psalm 100:2
Serve the LORD with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Psalm 100:4
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
It begins with gladness, laughter, and joy. Whether at home or on the Church campus, when you come into Daddy God’s presence, bring a gift of laughter, and sing yourself into His presence. There is nothing like the sound of children singing and laughing while they play or work. It is a warm sound in the ears of God as He hears His kids enjoying life!
Enter Daddy’s presence with the password “Thank You!” No other reason than, just because. “Thank you, just because You are God.” “Thank you, just because You woke me up this morning.” He deserves a BIG “thank you” every day for drastically changing our lives!
Make yourself at home in Daddy’s presence. Climb up on His lap and tell Him how much you appreciate Him. He is our Savior, Lord, and King. He is majestic. His name is great in all the earth. He is the Creator and Ruler of the universe! Tell Him how much you love Him and what He means to you. Declare who He is and what He has done for you! This is what praise and worship are all about!
As I watched Luke play on my office floor that day, the Holy Spirit whispered to me, “I like it too. When my children want to ‘hang’ with me, it warms my heart.” Psalm 99:5 – Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.
Hanging with Daddy God,
