Jesus the Rescuer

And Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me. He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me. I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.” (John 12:44–46)

On June 23, 2018 the world watched as twelve members of the Wild Boars youth soccer team and their coach entered the Tam Luang. Tragically, they were trapped by rising flood waters. The boys were found in early July but it was soon realized that their rescue would be extremely dangerous. The world watched as a team of international cave divers led the mission to retrieve them, evacuating them one by one. The last of the group, the coach, successfully exited the cave on July 10, 2018.

Imagine what it would have been like for those boys and the coach to see the first rescuer appear out of the darkness. Hope was restored and now they had a chance to live again.

Mankind was overcome by darkness thousands of years ago when Adam rebelled against God. Satan, the Prince of Darkness, ruled the land taking over dominion of Earth. God sent His Son on a mission as the Light of the world to come and be the rescuer for mankind. Jesus “cried out” in proclamation “he who believes in Me, does not believe in me (alone) but in Him who sent me.”  Jesus came and died on the cross to save man from the darkness of sin and for all who believe in Jesus believe in God’s redemptive plan and in turn receive eternal life.

Have you ever found yourself in a dark place; hopeless and without a solution? Jesus is the light of God and our Rescuer that has come to you in order to lead you out of darkness and into life eternal with God. Has Jesus rescued you? Has Jesus led you into eternal life and a relationship with God as your Father? If you believe in Jesus and follow Him, you will leave behind darkness and hopelessness and live in God’s marvelous light.
