Nothing Will Be Impossible With God

But Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; for that reason also the holy Child will be called the Son of God. “And behold, even your relative Elizabeth herself has conceived a son in her old age, and she who was called infertile is now in her sixth month. “For nothing will be impossible with God.” And Mary said, “Behold, the Lord’s bond-servant; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.” Luke 1:34-38 (NASB)

I’ve had people ask me from time to time if I really believe in the Virgin birth of Christ. My answer is always the same. I have to. Not because I’m compelled by evidence or because it makes perfect sense, although I think both of those could be argued. The reason for my “I have to” answer is much simpler than that.
If I don’t believe, then my belief that God can do the impossible goes out the window.

I have to believe because God has shown himself to be in my life, THE God of the miraculous. When I think of impossible situations, well, what do you know? There is God in the midst doing the impossible and miraculous. I have to believe because if I don’t, then I limit God. And if he is God, then it makes no sense to say He can’t do something miraculous. So yes, I believe in the Virgin Birth. Do I understand it? Nope. But can I believe it happened just like the Bible says it did? Yep, and it can grow my faith and trust in God in the process.

Mary’s story shows us how God uses the miraculous to grow our faith. She does what we all do when God says or shows us He is going to do the impossible. We ask, “How?” God may or may not answer with something that satisfies our logical minds, but in this case, the Angel tells her how and then reminds her of the miraculous pregnancy of her older relative Elizabeth as away to prove that God can do the impossible.

The Angel says to Mary, “For nothing will be impossible with God.” Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zip. Nothing.
That leaves, well, basically, Zero things that are impossible for God. And just like Mary, we have a choice.
To question and keep asking how, or to believe and say to the Lord, “may it be done to me according to your word.”

So what’s it going to be? Not that you have much choice. Believe and watch God prove himself to be the God of the miraculous, the God to which nothing will be impossible! Believing with you
