Speak Out His Truth

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.

If God ever gave you every reason to tell someone else about Him, would you? It’s kind of a trick question because, in reality, He did already. The Psalmists throughout the ages have been reminding us how much God has done for us and how good He is. The Psalmist in this psalm seems to have had enough and outright says, “Then Speak out!”

I’ve always been intrigued by the way “maturity” sometimes seems to lead to a quieting of the mouth regarding faith more than encouragement to it. Maybe it’s because we are not as willing to say it wrongly (our perspective). Maybe it’s that we feel like we said it all back in our youth. Maybe we’ve lost that lovin’ feeling, and it’s gone gone gone whoa-oh… whatever the case, Psalm 107 is another reminder not to stop saying it, but to “speak out!”

Notice just in these two verses are the reasons. 1. He is Good. If that’s all it said, it would be enough. But wait, there’s more! 2. His faithful love endures forever! I added the exclamation point for effect. God’s goodness, God’s love … but wait there’s more! 3. Redemption. Mic Drop, BOOM, the original GOAT, JESUS lays it out for us through the Psalmist. Redemption is the third and best part of a reason to speak out! We were dead, and now we’re alive because of the redemptive work of God, which is because of His goodness and His love for us!

What other reasons do you need? Oh, wait, I know Christians should be seen and not heard…

Well, not according to this psalm. And I think there is plenty of other scripture to back up both happening. We show them our faith by our deeds and our words. Also, notice that it doesn’t say Speak out the amazing wisdom you have on deep theological subjects… No, the deep end of the pool for us today is the goodness, the faithful enduring Love of God, and His redemptive work that we don’t deserve. Simply the testimony of God’s work in your life.

Speaking out with you about God’s Goodness and so much more,
Pastor Mike
