7 Behaviors of a Balanced Believer – The Evangelist

Somehow we have gotten the notion that winning people to Christ is the business of the professionals. Not only is this belief wrong, but relegating it to the professionals is a death sentence to any church. Unless we the people, the people of our congregation are sharing our faith, our church dies. We will go into a maintenance mode, that is, maintaining the people that are here, without reaching the lost. And eventually, the people who are here will move away or die and then the church dies.

And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; (Ephesians 4:11-12)

The apostles, prophets, evangelist, and pastor/teachers are not supposed to do the ministry, they are here to equip us to do the work of ministry.

A pastor/shepherd does not conceive and give birth to sheep, he creates an environment that is healthy so that the sheep can conceive and give birth to more sheep.

If the thought of sharing Christ and leading people through the process of being born again is frightening to you, think of a new mother to be, and how those same apprehensive feelings must flood her mind, yet for the joy of bringing new life into the world she puts her apprehensions and fears aside for the rewards of new life.

For the sake of bringing life to those who have no hope and are condemned to an agonizing eternity lets put our fears and apprehensions aside for the joy of new life.
