Trust The Eternal Word Of God

The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. (NASB, Isaiah 40:8)

I was thinking the other day about how many of the things that we trust in are very temporary. In fact, from one day to the next, things change. Possessions, Jobs, health, and even relationships change. Sometimes, we find ourselves in what feels like a constant state of adjusting to change and then trying to lean on the ever-changing, untrustworthy systems that mere men have contrived to ease the symptoms and effects of change.

You would think this would lead us to conclude that maybe we should be looking for something else. Maybe we should look to someone else to help us that is beyond all of this. And yet, back we go to the same sources of despair and deceit day after day.

Well, today, my brothers and sisters, let me ask you to consider trusting in God. Let me encourage you not to run to a temporal source but to the eternal God and the Eternal Word of God to find the truth that passes all understanding.

Isaiah spoke of this eternality of God and the Word of God in Isaiah 40:8. In this verse, we see that the Word of God stands forever. Jesus alluded to this thought in Luke 16:17 when he said, “But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one stroke of a letter of the Law to fail.” (NASB, Luke 16:17)

We are inspired and encouraged when we go to the only real eternal source of truth, comfort, joy, encouragement, peace, and love. It is a choice of the eternal over the temporal. It is true that what we choose as the source will impact the outcome and output in our lives.

Choose our amazing God and His Eternal Word as your source,
Pastor Mike
